A deep, dark ruby-red color is by no means opaque. The complex aromas are typically Italian, with notes of forest floor, herbs & anise over dark red-cherries. Lively acidity lifts delicate raspberry fruit that is overlaid by savory, soy-sauce notes, rich-licorice & gamey hints. A perfumed mid-palate reveals rich red-plum fruit & licorice. Tannins are very fine & the wine is at best medium-bodied. The delicate finish is soft & enduring.
