The 2017 Ektimo Estate Reserve Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley has received generally positive reviews, highlighting its balance, fruit-forward profile, and aging potential. The wine has bright acidity, notes of cherry and strawberry, and a hint of oak. Some reviewers noted the wine's full-bodied nature and its suitability with certain foods like rotisserie chicken or turkey.
A concentrated pomegranate aroma remains fresh on the nose of this bottling, which also pops with cinnamon spice. The palate is tense in texture but deliciously fresh, with pomegranate and hibiscus flavors given nuance by a black tea tone. Drink through 2039.
Immediately bursting with characteristic Calvert florals that are supported by dark cherry, plum and allspice. Violets flow endlessly on a silk laden mid-palate that intensifies and firms in the normal Calvert manner. Refinement; precision; florality; deeply reflective: descriptors that commonly define this great site are respectfully amplified in this cooler and slower ripening vintage.
Bright cherry, strawberry and cranberry fruit flavors interwoven with layers of spice, clove, toast and earthy notes. Big yet polished, this Pinot Noir can be enjoyed now or cellared for 4-7 years.
From a rocky, volcanic site in the cool-climate valley, this balanced wine is juicy in cola and dark cherry, with an earthy foundation of rock and mineral. Good acidity provides freshness and energy, a bit of tension around the otherwise supple tannin and soft length
Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, it's scented of rhubarb and warm blackberries with notes of black tea, floral perfume, earth and citrus. The palate is medium-bodied, super silky and plush with ripe but not overripe fruit, good freshness and a long, spicy finish.
It has tons of verve and pin-pricking acidity on the palate, where just-cut pomegranate, alpine strawberry and chopped thyme thrive.
The palate's red plum and currant flavors are elevated by singed herb and a lingering acidity that rolls into a spicy finish.
Lively black cherry and currant flavors, backed by vibrant acidity.
Dark cherry, raspberry and violets lead the way on the aromatic profile, with the palate bursting with blackberry pie, licorice, and cracked pepper.
The deep raspberry color invites you to explore the sweet aroma of plums, bright cherry cola, black cherry jam, pomegranate, black currant berries, with a hint of toast with a high note of black pepper.
A polished bouquet of black berry, red fruit, and coffee, leading into elegantly layered flavors of spice, vanilla, and tobacco.
There's a charmingly rustic vibe to this bottling, with blistered tomato, smoked kelp and savory umami notes drawing in the nose. The palate is also very savory, with cherry tomato, soy sauce and dried herb flavors.
Aromas of muddled strawberry and sharp peppercorn lead into a savory palate of cracked pepper, blistered tomato and cranberry, with a zesty acidity pumping into a complex finish.
The 2022 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) is such a gorgeous wine. Lifted floral and savory accents give this fruity, forward Pinot a good deal of presence. All the elements are so nicely balanced. In 2022, the appellation Pinot is a bit on the lighter side, even within the context of Tyler, but it is also wonderfully engaging and full of charm.
